Senior's Section Domestic Rules

Rules Effective November 2006

These rules apply only to scores returned in Senior's Monday Sweeps. Their purpose is to try to ensure that everyone has an equal chance of winning sweep money. They apply to Sweeps played over 12 or 18 holes (as decided by the Captain).

(i) Those finishing first will have their Domestic Handicap reduced by 2 shots and those finishing second by 1 shot. These reductions will apply equally to those finishing in joint first or second places. Where there are more than one players in first place there will be no reduction for those placed second.

(ii) For 4 ball better ball sweeps the winning pair(s) will be reduced by one shot each. There will be no reduction for those finishing second.

(iii) In the event of 12 or fewer players taking part in a sweep no handicap reductions will be made.

(iv) After playing off their reduced Domestic Handicap for 4 weeks players will be entitled to a lift of one shot provided that no more money has been won during that period. This four week qualifying period will be repeated until the Players Club Handicap has been reached.

(v) If any further first or second places are achieved during the period defined in (iv) then the players Domestic Handicap is further reduced by one or two shots and the qualifying period for a lift starts again from the date of the latest win.

(vi) In the context of these rules a week is defined as:- each time a member competes in a Seniors Sweep (i.e. it is not a calendar week)

(vii) (a) If a Players Club Handicap is adjusted up during a period when a Domestic Handicap reduction is in force then the Domestic Handicap will be readjusted to take this change into account, It follows that when a Player has played sufficient weeks to revert to his Club Handicap then the players new Club Handicap will apply. If a Players Club Handicap is adjusted up when no Domestic Handicap reduction is in force then the Players new Club Handicap will immediately apply. (b) If a Players Club Handicap is adjusted down then the Domestic Handicap will be adjusted I.E., the same difference between actual & Domestic Handicp.

(viii) All members will revert to their Club Handicaps each year on the Monday following the Club Captain driving in.

(ix) It is the responsibility of each individual member to:- (a) Report any change to his Club Handicap to the Senior's Captain before playing in a Monday Sweep following die change, (b) Ensure that the correct Domestic Handicap is recorded on his score card before play commences. This should be done by inserting the Players Club Handicap in the "Handicap Box" and his Domestic Handicap in the "Strokes Received" box.

(As amended November 2008 by authority of the Senior's Captain)
