Our New Web Page
An Introduction to the Web Site and Information for New Members

With the introduction of our new website structure it is appropriate that I make both an introduction to some of the facilities open to the Seniors Section and welcome new members to the section.
May I also extend an open invitation to any Senior male member of the club (60 and over) to come along to our Monday morning gathering. We meet at around 09:00 and make a draw for the playing order at 09:15 sharp. If you are to be late then a phone call will put you in the draw.
Our match rules can be found on the Senior Section Rules page - Click Here
In addition to our Monday meetings we also have a number of outings, friendly matches both home and away and we are also members of The Northumberland Seniors Members Golf League.
You can visit the League's website, Here
For those of you who play or are thinking of playing in our Seniors Open(s) then I would appreciate an early booking with payment to avoid dissapointment and also to speed up our processing on the day. We are begining to take bookings for both opens so to avoid you not getting your preferred tee time do book early as I anticipate a full entry for both events. I will not be putting up an entry list this year as this just creates uncertainty for us on the booking end. In its place I will be leaving booking forms attached to the Seniors Notice Board which you should fill stating your preferred starting time and attaching your payment. These forms should then be handed over to any of the Seniors Officers, given to Norma in the office or placed in the competitions box in an envelope marked "Seniors Open entry".
Seniors Christmas Luncheon
An afternoon with our partners for traditional Christmas fare

The tradition of Christmas Lunch with our partners is well established and I am pleased to announce it is growing with each year of passing.
It is an occasion which offers us all the opportunity to meet our playing and non playing members partners in a friendly and comfortable environment.

At the busy bar pre-drinks was the order of the day. Even though I (Senior Captain) had to forgo my ritual morning round of golf due a wee fall of the white stuff my spirits "hic" along with everyone else I spoke to were on a happy note.
The views from the window were quite magnificent with fresh snow and a brilliant sun shining down on us all.

John & Connie Dickinson made it a day to remember with a grand layout (that's John checking the finer details) and prizes to boot. All the Ladies received a gift for Christmas and on top of that John and Connie laid on a Ladies draw for even more goodies.

A Pre lunch chat.............

Compliments on the food and service were made by all. How Russell manages to russell up (sorry about the pun) the large quantity of food whilst maintaining such high standards will have to remain his secret.

Following Harry's (Corbett) win in the Ladies raffle earlier in the week he kindly donated a bottle of Port and with a mystery prize we had an impromptu raffle of our own. Christine the Senior Captains wife took first prize, then second prize, no we cannot have that, the draw retaken and Walter won a dozen golf balls. With lunch over, mince pies all gone and bottles empty, the Ladies continued to bring a smile and a laugh to the table.
League Match Dinner at Stocksfield
An informal drink and after dinner discussion with other league players

One of the highlights of the Seniors Season is indeed the Northumberland Senior Golf Members League Matches which are very friendly, yet still provide that edge we all look forward to when playing competitive golf. Details on the League, events etc., can be found at Northumberland Seniors Website another interesting web site that we at Stocksfield have helped develop through the expertise we have in our midst. Take a look, the site is both informative and full of the history of the League.

This year we are the hosts for the League Field Day to be held on Thursday 9th September 2010. As hosts we will be looking for helpers throughout the day to ensure the event goes smoothly, if you think you can help, spotters, starters, results etc., then contact me or any of the Seniors Officers.
