Walker Cup honour!

Chris plays for his Country (and his Club!) in this prestigious competition.

Our very own Chris Paisley of Stocksfield and one of only two sets of brothers to have won the Northumberland championship, is enjoying great success in his golfing career.

Chris was selected to play in the GB&I squad at the Walker Cup in the Merion Club in Pennsylvania this year. In the process, he has made his parents and his club very proud of him!

The 2009 Walker Cup squad met up in London and played Sunningdale with Nick Dougherty joining them on the. The next day, Chris found himself shaking hands with royalty as the players were introduced to Prince Andrew at Buckingham Palace. As Chris put it: "There were a few more paintings on the wall than there are back at home in Mickley."

From the Palace, the squad were chauffeured to the BBC TV studios, where they joined the audience for the Jonathan Ross Show. Then, a week before the Walker Cup, the squad flew business class to the States where they spent the first two days of the week in New Jersey playing Pine Valley - ranked No 1 in Golf Magazine's world top 100 courses

Then there was the contest between the amateurs of America and Great Britain and Ireland. Despite the team losing, Chris performed exceptionally well, halving with Drew Weaver in the Saturday Singles, and with Bud Cauley in the Sunday Singles. His only loss was in the foursomes, playing with Dale Whitnell.

Chris is now going through the process of qualifying for a place on the European Tour. He is through to the second round of qualifying which for him will be at the Hacienda Del Alamo in Spain commencing 18th November 2009.
