Course preparations for Winter Golf

As we head into winter, certain areas of the course have been roped off to protect them from trolleys. Please respect these and follow any directional signs. The club buggies are restricted to back 9 only at the moment but will soon be taken off for the winter. Members personal single buggies will be allowed for as long as possible. Please try and keep them off fairways, greens surrounds and approaches.

Members are requested to use winter wheels on trolleys and, for those of you that are lucky enough to be able to carry, please do so. If at all possible the course will remain open in some form throughout the winter. This may at times mean that trolleys will not be allowed and carry bags must be used.

Now that this seasons handicap qualifiers have finished, the par 3’s will be played off the mats to protect the tees and allow repair work to be carried out. The two final team Turkey Trots will be played off the White markers but when the Winter League starts on 24th November we will be playing from the Yellow markers. The club will be operating with only 3 members of staff during the winter in order to reduce costs. As there will only be one member of staff in for 2 hours on a Saturday & Sunday to check the course, remove dew from the greens etc., we will operate a “Rake & Place“ policy for the bunkers. This means, if your ball lands in a bunker that is in play you can lift & clean your ball, rake a small area of the bunker and place your ball. This local rule will come into play on Saturday 10th November.

Thank you for your co-operation with this.   Michael Byerley, Director of Course Services.
